Hello Victoria,No it may not appear with you, Not all people with psoriasis get the arthritis,I was born with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis didnt come until 33 years later ,Not everyone gets it, Theres a possibiltie yes but i wouldnt think about it unless it happens, I think alcohol triggered mine but i dont know as i was drinking a lot for a long time , It was very painful in the beginning,I made mine better with diet/lifestyle changes, ,prevention is better than cure if possible but there is no cure,Healthy lifestyle will keep symptoms under control for a lot of people, I wish you well :)
hello, i had Psoriasis for 10 years also, and when i did Phototherapy sessions 3 times per week from 5 minutes and increasing every session till 20 mins, it was the only treatment that was this effective to my skin, after 2 months i was free from all the plaques. Hope that it will help yours as well
I finished a three month course two months ago. I was head to toe mostly little patches around two inches in diameter. I went twice a week, starting at just 25 seconds and increasing by 15 seconds after each session. It worked very well for me and I was plaque free by the end. They should tell you it’s not a cure and different people are free for different amounts of time, several years to a couple of months. I kind of fall into the latter, I have some back, just on my elbows and thighs and compared with before, that’s a win for me. I do have the slightly darker skin tone where the plaque was but it doesn’t bother me. If you’re younger though it might. It is a commitment of time but worth it in my opinion. Three last things, commonly, the plaques start disappearing from the bottom up. The nurse said they have no idea why. It’s not a once only treatment. If you have it and the plaques come back at some point, you can go again. And finally, UV light can’t penetrate plaques so either the hospital or your doctor should give you some kind of cream to soften the plaques so they fall off in the shower. My doctor gave me a simple soft paraffin gel which worked well and really fast. I bought a big sponge which was soft on one side but had a rough exfoliating surface on the other. That worked really well. Oh, and a bonus tip. Something like the paraffin gel is flammable and can soak into your bedding and PJs so if you’re a smoker, best take precautions.
Hi! I did uv light treatment 3 years ago for around 6-8 weeks 2-3x a week. It did help calm the flare but in the long run the only side effect I did not like were the “scars” left more or so little dark spots here and there. Prior to that, my P just came and went but no marks left behind. But it works different on all- I hope it helps you!
