My son has psoriasis on his hands elbows and now appearing on his legs. Does uv light really work is it worth him using a sunbed to help?

I have had this condition since a boy and i do find that during the winter months wearing long trousers, jeans and many more clothes thicker socks etc that the condition is at its worse, during summer months in shorts and swim gear and wearing sandels and being bare feet helps greatly. I did use a sunbed for around couple of years yes that did help but i am worried about the effects of the use of sunbeds hope this helps Lnne

Hi Lynne - try Epsom salts in hot water - this really soothes the skin. I used to bathe in this and it really helps. Once out the bath pat dry (do not rub) and then apply a dead sea body cream. Keep at it as it really will help.

I think the uv light has cancer risk. I am using blue light treatment by philips
it has had a modest improvement after 3 weeks, but too early to tell. But a high alkaline diet is the best intervention.
