Treatment

Tell me people, do the creams, lotions and meds burn your patches? My hands are literally raw, cracked and bleeding and everything I am trying is burning them, even plan petroleum jelly. How can I treat it if the treatment is torture?

I know how you feel, Gail. When my hand psoriasis was at its worst, I used a plain hand cream or oil (petroleum jelly/olive oil/vegetable oil and wrapped my hands with clingfilm plastic wrap. Not a good look in the day, but the clingfilm acted like a top layer of skin, protecting the red raw skin underneath. I now am very careful with what I eat, as I'm convinced this is helping my skin. Hope you feel better soon x

Hi Gail! What I use to help me with the cracks and dryness is applying coconut oil. It helps me a lot until now. I don't rely much on lotions or creams anymore. I hope it will work for you too! :)

Organic coconut oil should help. I use it after a good old scratch!

Medicine of any type hurts unless the skin is softened first. Try an oatmeal bath in warm, not hot water and pat dry. Put a no-perfume lotion on and then your medicine won't hurt.

There were many occasions that the creams/ointments/sprays would burn so bad I dreaded using them. I was raw, my legs were 80% covered with plaques, my arms/elbows were 60% covered, along with several plaques on my scalp and spots on my hands my back and my rear end!
It wasn’t until I changed my skincare routine that my plaques disappeared.

And....what’s your skin care secrets Lynn? I just use Dove soap (for years) and Burt’s bees face wash.

I would try coconut oil mixed with aloe vera gel.
