Treatment

After 3+ years of total misery I was finally diagnosed with genital psoriasis. I was given an steroid ointment to apply but to be honest I am not finding it much help. I have terrible burning in the morning.

I think it’s the worst area to have it ... drives me up the wall I’m not to bad at day time but I tear at it in my sleep πŸ™πŸ™

Have you been given any oil to soothe the flaking?

Tracy
Tracy @tracy2020

There is no flaking that I can see. It feels like really really bad thrush with itching and burning. They couldn't find out what was wrong until in went to a consultant and she found it straight away as she knew what to look for. I have very very mild psoriasis on my hands and feet and a tiny bit in my ear. but for the most part doesn't bother me. But this is a nightmare.

Given stuff to bath in every second day. Gives me some relief after the bath.

Wish I could give you some of my pineapple/ginger/turmeric kombucha for you to try for a couple of months to see if it cures you as it seems to have done for me. The good news though is you can make it yourself.

You will have to give me your recipe Steve

I even went to see a dermatologist whom was no help at all. My doctors just supply me with a terrible shampoo that actually made it worse and aggravated my asthma. Just plod along now as at 61 no one wants to listen.

Gold Bond has a great psoriasis cream. I finally gave up and researched oils. I got coconut natural oil. And mixed 2 teaspoons of coconut oil to 1 teaspoon tea tree oil. It worked wonderful I was so surprised. Within the first 24 hours symptoms was 80% better. Needless to say I will be researching more natural oils.

It's very frustrating because my rheumatologist says go see dermatologist your dermatologist says go see a a gynecologist. And you're stuck in one big loop so when you have genital psoriasis you really do need to research it yourself. It's enough to drive you crazy...

I am also suffering with genital psoriasis
I think the most hurt was when I had surgery & the nurse was intent on scrubbing before she put in a catheter, now I'm soon scheduled for hip replacement # 2 & I know I will face scrubbing again. My Dr. prescribed an ointment & it does help. Right after my 1st surgery my skin all cleared up, I broke my wrist a few years ago & skin cleared right away, odd

So true, Rose, getting caught up in the referral circle. Great recommendation for the mixture of oils. Sounds soothing πŸ’¦πŸ’¦πŸ’¦

Tea tree oil mix is very soothing. My arms , feet and behind my ears, I use sea salt in SHOWER. I rub it right in the area and rinse. Then I put lotion or tea tree mix on after shower. Another thing that works good is putting sea salt in a shallow cool not hot tub and sit there for a while, that helps a lot

Where can you get sea salt. And does the Tea Tree Oil not burn you. Do you just mix tea tree oil and coconut oil together. Where can you get Gold Bond. I was sent to a gynaecologist and she said she could find nothing wrong with me. I actually was beginning to think it was in my head. Glad now that we found out what it is and I am not going mad. I find in the morning when I wake its the worst as I have terrible burning. Thank you all so much for your help and advice.

I get Gold Bond at Walgreens. You can get bath sea salt there too. Or big lot it's cheaper. I get bath sea salt mixed with coconut oil. Make sure you wash your tub or shower afterwards. It gets slippery. Tea Tree oil you can get there too. I mix 2 teaspoon of coconut oil (or olive oil) and 1 teaspoon of tea tree oil. It very soothing. Sea salt burns if put directly on area.(works Great for outer areas ,arms feet, legs.) But works great in a bath.
