Who gets this message: "Hold on - you're re-posting to fast! Please wait a few minutes before posting again" ? By the time I can post a reply I forgot most things I wanted to say and then I have to keep it short. Anyway, Just want to say that...Flaym...you're an awesome site!

Ha ha, i get the same problem sometimes michelle, thank you all for your nice comments, it does lift ones spirits, we all need that between the flaking /itching and scratching,we all certainly learn a lot from here at flaym, been a year here now, how time flies with so much fun and learning about all this, much better than a doc or derm in my opinion though not knocking it if a doc or derm helps you,we just want it gone from us which ever way , thank you all :X)

Michelle
Michelle @michelle1021

I agree John and it's always a pleasure :) . You are right about the dr/derm part. I feel that no Dr/Derm CAN do anything for my P. I have it for 25 years now and I have learned mostly on my own what food to avoid and what is good for me. The moisturizer I use has made most of my P disappeared and I'm happy with that. But I do admit that since I came to Flaym, I have learned more on here than what any Dr can tell me. They are not experienced like all the Flakers on here. I'd rather take advice from all of you than a Dr. I will only use them for prescribed medication (which I don't use but might someday)

 John, THE HULK
John, THE HULK @chewbacca

Thanks michelle,,unfortunately my skin has broke out a bit since i got ill for over 2 weeks ,i have had to use some steroids last night to calm my skin down, i did put coconut oil on it but think it was getting worse so i used my chinese steroid cream,When i first came here my eyes opened very wide, i was shocked at some of the stuff i was reading and made me very sad and thought, i am okay not bad at all compared to a lot of people, i almost felt guilty yes guilty, i would literaly get upset cry at some of the stuff i was reading here but, i stuck it out here as i was going to leave, glad i stayed as it has changed my life for the better, its what ever works i think ,helps us even if its slapping on axel grease or covering yourself in honey, if it helps then great :)

Michelle
Michelle @michelle1021

Ai John, I hope it will get better quick quick. Cover yourself with that honey (eat a bit while you at it) and slap that axel grease on because you are the master of your body and your body should start listening to you when you tell it to NOT FLARE UP SUCKER. (you think it might work?) John, when I first got here and read what the other Flaymers are going through, it also broke my heart and I thought I am so privileged. I know exactly what they go through as I've been there and thankfully 97.12345% of mine disappeared. I would like to help more if I can but because I don't use any steroids or pills I can't really give advice about it. But hey, we are here to support each other and that means more to me than medication :)

Michelle
Michelle @michelle1021

Well I'm glad to hear about the hospitals John. (and fine wine :))
Us South Africans aren't too shabby I guess lol. I have met a lot of people from the UK as well and I love the dry sense of humour and all of them are so charming. Good manners actually. I'm holding thumbs that you do get a good discount on your quarters John. These days we have to save money where we can.

I am fine thank you John but have been very busy lately with the granddaughters and having problems with not being able to react on a lot of the flaym posts, it always seems to be when that post is up about not mentioning trade names, drives me mad and stops me participating.

 John, THE HULK
John, THE HULK @chewbacca

Sorry about this janice, yes i know what you mean, its good to see you here and i love some of the things you say about your family etc so nice,as you know my past family life wasnt good to me but, could be worse :) i like hearing nice stories about family support through the hard times etc,,that makes me happy :)

Susan
Susan @godcares

john I understand. My family was very dysfunctional. Crazy poor too. My siblings don't speak to me or each other. I have told them my phone is always open to them and my home too. I had to let that go. My mom passed away about 4 years ago and my dad is very verbally abusive. Only last week I had to let him go. He never comes here, is verbally abusive, never calls. So I basically told him he can come here (about 3 hours away) or he can call. I love him but love myself too. It's such an odd family I live in. Janice I too, like John, love to hear your family stories. It warms my heart. My direct ex, kids, family was NOTHING like how I was raised so I'm grateful for that!

 John, THE HULK
John, THE HULK @chewbacca

Sorry about this susan with your family,i am happy to have none to be honest, i would make the effort and they do nothing so, its easier for me not to bother, i only have my father thats my blood and he cant be bothered so why bother, i havnt seen him in over 4 years i think, am i bothered nope because i am independant and always have been, he didnt really support me when i was young so if he croaks, it would make no difference to my life to be honest, hes not a bad man but, is guided by my stepmother , under the thumb i say and she would be jealous for i dont know what reason why,i do not know ?
i am happy enough on my own in my flakey own way :)

Theresa
Theresa @theresa2

Oh my goodness, my parents separated when I was 7, we went to live with my grandparents, my grandmother hated me I thought I was black until I was 13 because she called me a bloody black Irishmen like my father whom sh also hated...she verbably abused me for years, she was cruel beyond belief until she died and my sister took over her role, I was never ever good enough....my grandmothers name for me was hussy, bloody hussy.....it was only 4 years ago I realized how dis functional my family was and my sister a major narsistic and hated the fact that I became a Christian and laughed and made fun of me at every turn, I was the joke.....my doctor finally said I had to remove all the toxic people from my life, from my sister to my son....but I had Jesus who thought I was perfect and loved me unconditionally AND finding out there was NO condemnation in Christ all made me brand new and I have never been happier or more content...my son and I are in a much better place, my sister and I don't speak, I pray for her everyday and hope one day God will soften her heart. I thank God every day for the blessing he gives me...some days it's just a sunshinning day🌞

Janice
Janice @Immy

Dearest John, Susan and Theresa, I feel so sad when reading your life stories, I know I am blessed for having so much love in my family life but every day is not filled with happiness as sadly like yourselves my husband of almost 50 years has struggled with what life has thrown at him from a young child. His father received a letter whilst out in North Africa during the 2nd World War informing him that his wife had been unfaithful and was expecting a baby which was born a boy and immediately placed into care. When his father returned from the war they remained together but she was pregnant every year until she died at the young age of 32 and all 6 children went into a Children's Home. After 5 years he remarried and they once again became one family. But because of the harsh hand his dad had been given he unfortunately took it out on the children, they all have problems of one kind or another as they never understood why he was such an angry man until they became adults. My husband is now 73 and sadly his problems of OCD are escalating out of control since learning that he needs a cataract op which takes place on the 23rd of Feb, he surrendered his driving licence but intends to reapply once he gets the all clear, every minute of the day is spent on reading the licence reapplication as he is convinced they won't give him his licence back, I really do feel for him but his obsession is driving me into insanity and most days I just want to scream, I hide this from my family but I am not sure how much longer I can keep my silence. I am so pleased that all three of you have found ways of dealing with your childhood memories and have managed to find happiness in your lives.

Susan
Susan @godcares

Theresa and Janice. Holy cow. Such depth to our stories. As we share and grow, we find healing I think in the way that is meant for us. Janice I totally get the OCD thing. My ex was OCD and I completely lost sight of myself for 35 years. Yikes. I hope he get's it under control at least a bit. I feel your pain. Theresa, all I can say is that I didn't have God, or something bigger than me, I'd be in pretty hot water. LOL. Glad you found Him!

Susan
Susan @godcares

john I honestly don't know of any non dysfunctional families. I love my dad for sure. However, he is verbally abusive and my alcoholic brother lives with him and is also verbally abusive. When he dies, if he chooses not to come visit me before, there will be sadness, but certainly not alot. I have new family (not blood) that is coming into my life now which is good. I don't have any blood family that I connect with or rather, wants to connect with me. Their loss.

Bev
Bev @bev43

My heart goes out to you Janice, Theresa and Susan. Praying for strength and peace for you all.

Susan
Susan @godcares

Thank you Bev. It's just been a journey. I tend not to dwell on stuff because it's all done and over with. I have a thing from my past that is recurring like a video. Therapy is going on to help to release that. I really think all of it made a much stronger and empathetic person to tell you the truth.

Theresa
Theresa @theresa2

I agree Susan 😊

Jenny
Jenny @je2

Theresa, Susan, Jayne, Janice, John. Reading all your posts on dysfunctional families, I feel at home!! Well, almost!!! Lots of skeletons , could write a book I'm sure. My partner also came from a children's home. One of four brothers, one had different father. Used to be taken out of Homes by mother and skip around the country!! So he's taken the past 12 years we've been together to 'settle down'.

My folks argued since I can remember and eventually divorced after about 20 odd years. I divorced after 22 years due to ongoing financial stress and my ex committed suicide 9 months later.

My two daughters have done extremely well for themselves, of which I am very proud. We are very close.

Can go on for hours about my life, but page not long enough!! Guess this all adds to our PsA and Psoriasis!!

Seems a lot of us here are here due to stress related pasts. A common denominator!!

Anyway, I have two loving daughters, two grandchildren on the way, a loving partner and two loving cats!!

Hope you all have a stress free week.

 John, THE HULK
John, THE HULK @chewbacca

yes, i like i animals, they dont judge and dont care what one looks like etc,i find cats are great to ease the stress in life, i could sit down and stroke a cat for hours, when i am out and about i stop if i see a cat and hope them come toward me for some stroking, a lot people think i am a bit silly i think but, thats me , thank you for this jenny, glad all seems good now on the family front and hope you enjoy your new grandchildren :)

Theresa
Theresa @theresa2

Another cat lover here🐈

Susan
Susan @godcares

Hey Jenny. We are all in the same boat with memories. We tend to cope in different ways with over working, alcohol, crap food... yada yada. I did it all in the coping department. LOL. BTW, I am writing a book. Just stopped though for lots of reasons. Let my publisher go as she was stressing me out. Don't need it. I really did the work necessary to be rid of stress and am still. Happy day to you as well.
