I am about to have my first tattoo as I've decided to grow old disgracefully. Has anyone who has chronic nerve pain had any problems with having a tattoo?

Welcome to Flaym, Shirley! I don't have nerve pain myself but we do have a theme here on Flaym with collected posts on tattoos and psoriasis! Check out the top bar.

It's 7 little needles. The buzz of the gun is intense & addictive. I have a tattoo on my shoulder and between sittings I ofcourse got spots on my new tattoo, I was beside myself. The guy actually tattooed my spots and it actually wasn't too bad. I have nerve problems but I don't think the needles go deep enough too reach them

I ended up with psoriasis on half of my new tattoo ...it's now nearly going but has taken 4 months to go .. I had a small tat on my wrist and it did trigger my carpul tunnel syndrome ..which is nerve damage ...it was painful but not for long . Hope your tattoo goes well 😊 can't wait to get started on my next session , just need to save up

Hi Tammiebee. I’ve heard that tattoos can easily become addictive. When I was researching which one I was going to have I identified a number which I liked and found myself saying I’ll have that one next time lol. Only really planning the one tattoo as I think I’m a bit of a coward haha x

Hi , I had my first Tattoo done on Saturday ...Have to say this was the worst pain I have every felt and would never go through this again .... Can anyone tell why this hurt so much ??

Hi El @el1 it depends upon where you have the tattoo done. The colours and shading also have an impact on the pain you experience. It’s good to talk to the tattoo artist about their understanding of where it would be painful etc. They can be very helpful. I had my tAttoos done on my shoulders a relatively pain free area. It’s a shame you had such a bad experience. X

Hi Shirley , Mine was just above my wrist on my forearm , most of it as faded away now its like the ink was pushed out , maybe I choose the worst place to have one but never felt pain like that before ...I wont be doing it again Lol
