Itch, coping, treatment

Hello, I need advice. My scalp P is very bad. I've used coal tar, t-gel, H&S and charcoal shampoo none of which has helped. Does anyone know of something else I can try. It is so painful I'm desperate and would be grateful for any advice, thanks

Sometimes I try to involve my partner by reading out similar problems to my own. You'll wish I didn't in a minute!! Claire he asks if you are a smoker and tells you not to scratch it.

Hi Claire. Be gentle on yourself. If it's bad you need something soothing. Not things that aggrevate it. Use oil soaks leave overnight. Search the themes section where you will find lots of answers.

Hi Claire, I am exactly the same so interested in your replies- I look like a continuous snowstorm has landed on my shoulders and only stop scratching when I see that look of horror on other peoples faces!!

Hi Claire (and Jacquie!). I'm with Jen, oil soaks are excellent for my scalp. I've started doing them in the last year and it has helped so much with the itching and flaking. But first I got it under control a year or so ago by using a scalp "blitz" that alternated using coconut oil based prescription ointment to soften the crusts, and steroid cream to thin them. Then after about 3 weeks of that it was so much more manageable and I stopped medicated creams and switched to the oil soaks a few times a week before washing hair. I also use Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion on my scalp if it gets dry now (which is much less because of the oil soaks). It is very light and sinks right in so I don't need to wash hair after using as it doesn't look greasy. Its got oatmeal in it and is very soothing for me. Hope this helps!

Once a month I treat my scalp with teatree oil an hour before shampooing with the clinical strength H&S. Keeps my scalp under control.

Sounds very soothing, Richard!

Thanks everyone for your replies. Lynne I am not a smoker and only scratch while I'm sleeping so keep my nails short lol. I think I will give the oil soaks a chance. I used a steroid cream on it last night but even after washing my hair looked greasy and it didn't stop the itching

I do a 2 things works well for me. I put coco nut oil on my scalp and then leave for about 2 hours. Then I wash my hair and then do a apple cinger vinger rise ( must be organic and with the mother) and once done that wash my hair and feels great I do it once a week or maybe every 2 weeks :)

Just trying this too Jill, I don't know how long to wait for results though - what about you? I have been using it since Tuesday and I think it is reducing the rough edges but I do have a patch on my forehead at the hairline and the coconut oil leaves it very red!! So the choice is red traffic light or white mountain peak - decisions, decisions lol ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
