Secrets, diet

From a clinical nutritionist and professor of nutrition - Nightshade vegetables may increase pain and inflammation in a subset of people suffering from various forms of arthritis, but not for most people. Try adding them back if you removed them.

How is your salsa reintro going, Shawn? The last time I ate tomatoes in a week I found my skin bubbled up on the elbows... it wasn't pleasant. But it could have been other factors than the tomatoes. At some point I will try them again, when I've worked my way up my reintroduction list. It is long!

So far so good John - I have only added back organic salsa - it was the only thing I really missed. I also eat a lot of “pea crisps” - they are a protein enriched organic vegan snack or salad topping - I know that lectins are on the avoid list for an anti-inflammatory diet - these are made from dried peas and brown rice - I love them because they are a viable source of protein for me - also hippeas are another protein enriched snack that I love - even though lectins may cause inflammation I feel as though they may cause less inflammation than gmo corn sprayed with glyphosate - I also love love love supereats high protein tortilla chips - they are vegan, non-gmo and gluten free - they are made with pea protein, corn and sacha inchi and have 10 grams of protein per serving - a 5 oz bag has 50 grams of protein!!!! That’s more protein per ounce than chicken. Don’t ever let anyone tell you that vegetarian and vegan diets are protein deficient!!!!

Hi Sarah - going great - I’ve had two jars over the last 10 days or so - no adverse effects - I know that’s probably too much salsa but I hadn’t had any in 10 months! Plus I ate enough that my skin and joints would have let me know if should continue to avoid it. Luckily however no issues! You have to celebrate the small wins!

Shawn I have no issues with nightshades, but I did get my gut health in order for a long time now. I can eat anything I like which tends to be vegetables of any sort and protein.

It's a big win Shawn! That's great. Looks like you've done enough work on your body that you've repaired it enough to tolerate tomatoes now then ☺️ Something I aspire to!
