Secrets, treatment, diet

Interesting that i did reading on psoriatic arthitis which i have,my first sign of this was my nails with pitting and then later lifting off,,beware if one has nail problems, could be a sign of psoriatic arthritis on its way,it can be reversed :)

My nails have more pits than a badly maintained road, but they've been like that for a while now. Also, my toenails try to fold in half from the nail bed to the tip. I had to have both big nails removed a few years ago cause they started digging into the skin and got infected. They regret but so rough you could grate cheese on them.

Can I ask John did this come on gradually with your nails my one thumb nail is all weird the last three years now but I have no pitting and no other nails have progressed with it

I wonder if the nail issues can be several years ahead of the PSA itself. I have toenails (3) on one foot that have been pretty funky for a number of years now, but the rheumatologist said no major signs of PSA as of yet except one hand.

Side affects of medicine on your hands maybe steroids

My foot felt like it was broken when I recovered from appendectomy. Strong antibiotics wiped out my good gut microbes. My left foot only progressed w/ psoriatic arthritis and toe by toe became sausage digits and nearly over night the nails turned up and the end which you normally would clip became as wide as the toenail. Never had pitting.

Hello stacy,15 years ago or more , my nails werent pitted bad and i didnt take any notice of them to be honest until they started lifting away from the nail beds, they were like this for a year i think or around also my eyes had problems at the same time, severe dry eyes, very uncomfortable then the arthritis in the joints came on,all this within a year for arthritis to hit me, i was drinking a lot around that time so, think it was alcohol that set it off, never thought of what i was doing may had triggered the arthritis , my nails on my fingers and toes were the first sign of it, i used to rip my nails off as they would in grow on my feet and look all fungal looking aswell as my finger nails,2 years ago my finger nails were pretty awful with discolouration ,fungal looking, i changed that last year, they look normal now and have been for near a year :)

it dosnt always affect all the nails stacy, can be one ,two or more with inflammation,my thumb nails used to be the worst and first fingers in from the thumbs, it would vary from time to time what nails would get it,my pharmacy noticed it and said i got stuff for that, i told him i have psoriatic arthritis and that my nails are tied with it,he didnt want to listen trying to sell me fungal creams etc, i cleared mine just by diet/changes,within 4 months nails went normal and have been for near a year now :)

john I think you are right. I had the nail issue too long before the arthritis and, yes, it is all reversed.

Build up of inflammation and eventually it gets everywhere else it seems Susan, i know it can be reversed for sure, especially with my joints and nails i noticed they healed up very well indeed :)

Hi, I'm new to this forum. I'm about a year suffering with scalp psoriasis. Very annoying and difficult to treat. I'm currently applying coconut and lemon paste which I took from this forum. I've noticed one toe nail is discolored and lifting away.. Any advise what to use on this?

Tea tree oil is meant to be good antifungal / antimicrobial / antibacterial etc for nails... There are special nail oils you can buy but I don't know what is in them...

Elva welcome to our Flaym family. Everyone has great ideas. Give it time. I'm an advocate with treating any autoimmune dis-ease from the inside out. Diet for sure, whatever natural creams you can try, then work on the mind and stresses. That's how I got healing but like john says, it takes time for sure but sooooo worth it and very rewarding too.
