Coping

My results are in - Negative for Psa!! ๐Ÿ˜„ What puzzles me is I had it bad at 16yrs old for a year. Heavy meds were needed. Now to have a negative result, This must mean it can go away, or become so little that no markers are found!? Happy Day! โค

My thumbs still get tender at times, but I am thinking it must be so little that it doesn't show up in the testing..

I don't think so Roxanne. I was bad. My fingers were swollen at the joints and I could not bend them at all to touch my top middle or bottom palm. It was really horrible.

My dr at the time told me I *outgrew* it. I never quite understood that. I wonder if my current dr has the test results and meds given from my old dr in another town.. who is now retired. It would be neat to look at. The meds I was on required me to have bloodwork every 2 weeks

Bev

I'm all good thanks Melissa. Struggling a bit with arthritis in my lower back which makes it feel like I have a hip problem but X-rays show its the lower back. Docs put me on anti-inflammatory's for next two weeks so we will see after that. The joys of getting older but then again it's better than the alternative

Welcome & Thank you Melissa :) I have a lot of pain from a mva I had last year. I was worried that the pain was actually psa, lucklily its not. Hopeful that the pain will one day be healed. Sorry to hear that your skin was clear for so long up until recently. Do you know what may have caused the flare up? Hopefully it can clear up for you again soon!

Bev, I hope the anti-inflammatories are helpful for you!

Mishlyn
Mishlyn @mishlyn

I hope so too Yvonne! Happy to hear your hands are still good! Are you going to be able to take a different type of tablet? Or a different approach to treatment? Maybe give fresh lemon a try on your feet. Has been helping me keeping build up and inflammation down :)

Hi Everyone! I have recently had my PSA formally diagnosed after a very severe flare up . It is great reading how supportive you all are and your tips and hints . I am on medication now and waiting for the month to pass to see if it helps , fingers crossed ! I have had a lot of luck in the past with diet and lifestyle changes , I just need to get back in that head space lol ! Thank you for letting me be a part of this community :)

Mishlyn
Mishlyn @mishlyn

Welcome to Flaym Meryl!! Great to have you here :) Wishing you great luck with your new medication! What dietary and lifestyle changes did you find helpful? You are right..the proper head space is very much needed. Not always the easiest thing to do!

Sonja
Sonja @sonja3

Is there a blood test for PsA??

Sonja
Sonja @sonja3

Iโ€™m confused.. there are no blood test for PsA so what exactly did your dr test to rule PsA out, if you donโ€™t mind me asking??

Hi Michelle,

Trying to keep my diet clean and steering away from wheat and dairy . Really hard . Have even given up my wine because at present I have to have liver function tests for the new meds. Unfortunately for me I have had severe reactions to anti inflammatories so now itโ€™s the heavy duty stuff and they can be a bit hard going on the liver !

Mishlyn
Mishlyn @mishlyn

Hi Sonja, I was tested for Anti Nuclear Antibodies (ANA's) which are commonly found in patients with systemic autoummune Rhumatic disease. I was also tested for rheumatoid factor and C reactive protien which measuses the level of inflammation in the body.
Although it was not a specific test for psa, It has been ruled out based on negetive results. If it were positive or my inflammation levels were high, I would be sent to a rheumatologist for further investigation. Confusing.. yes! Lol. But happy for the negetive results!

It sure is hard Meryl. Those are my biggest triggers too. My favourite things.. sigh.. I was doing really good.. then caved in a few weeks ago.. then another Flare up. Working on controlling that now. Going to do my best to stick to this eating plan. Just not worth it to me.. to work so hard get clear.. slip up a bit and all that work out the window. I hope your new meds work well for you!

Hi! I also have psoriatic arthritis. In Hungary, in Hungary, I do not have the doctor to do experimental research or biological therapy, they always figure out why not. I read that you have good results at doctors. I'm really happy about that. Be nice to share with me what kind of medication, therapy, and what is the best use !? Thanks for the answers in advance too, with greetings: Tรผnde
