Itch, coping, diet

Not a good psoriasis day. Scalp dry all over. Fighting urge to scrape / scratch, trying not to agitate it... Elbows thick and red (not flaky, weird?!) Could be the trial of dairy (day 5 of tiny amounts of dairy) or the sore throat that is brewing! โ˜น๏ธ

Ick! Dairy, meat, caffeine, peppers & white potatoes makes my P crazy!! I crave those foods, but my skin is doing so well, I'm not going take the chance by eating those foods๐Ÿ˜ข continuing to feel better - its worth a different way of eating - inflammation level is
very low right now ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
Also, I drink lemonade every day & haven't had a cold in two years - really!!

Dairy is often the culprit. I rarely if ever consume dairy. Hope your throat gets better quickly Sarah as well as your skin!

Oh no :( Sorry to hear that Sarah. Dairy is a big one for me too. Will you stop the dairy for now and re try it again later when your sore throat is gone? I hope tomorrow is a better day!

Hope your scalp gets better soon Sarah and I hope you got something for that sore throat? What about season change? Could that be the cause for the dry scalp? I found 2 spots of P on my scalp the other day and I thought "oh no......no no no no no no no no" but I did not panic. I sat down and went over everything I ate, drank etc which can be the cause and then I remember....I change my conditioner. Remember I'm using my horse shampoo? Well I decided to try another conditioner and obviously it triggered my P. The 2 spots are almost gone but still. One starts to get anxious when you see new spots. I hope you feel better soon Sarah and get rid of that damn dairy! lol x

Hi Sarah. What type of milk do you use? I've started on an A2 milk trial which is supposed to be better tolerated by the gut/immune system. So far so good. Has anyone else tried this?

Sarah
Sarah @sarahuk

It's funny actually, the dairy I have had (a small bit of butter on vegetables, a spoon of yogurt in a chicken sauce, a splash of milk in a tea) has made me realise that I really didn't miss it that much either like you John! Angela so glad you are better off without dairy, and Michelle you too. I'm trying small amounts of dairy to see what happens as is it part of the reintroduction schedule i am following closely. I am sticking to it like glue, and to be honest I found it mentally quite hard to test dairy when I have been many months without it. It was quite a hurdle! But...I am seeing with my skin that, apart from high histamine foods, other foods seem to take a while to build up a reaction. It is interesting. If I go on to include any dairy in my diet long term it would be in small amounts only. Thank you for asking Bev, and for the wishes Rita, Roni, Carol and Michelles! Oddly, today my elbows are looking quite a bit better and scalp itch is down! That's the first day in a while. We'll see... Justin you are right there is much worse in life. But I think the frustration of psoriasis is real for each of us here!

I also woke up with a hot inflamed sore throat this morn..no flaring or itching ..just waiting to see the outcome...

Sarah
Sarah @sarahuk

Ah you might have escaped a flare there Ellen! My flare always comes on before the sore throat arrives...it's like a warning indicator!

Michelle
Michelle @michelle1021

now I know this is not a good thing to post onto Flaym but, whenever I get a sore throat I drink a glass of dry red wine. It could be all in the mind but it works for me. (sometimes. depends on the severity.)

Michelle
Michelle @michelle1021

That's what I like about you Sarah, trying everything and see what is good or bad for your P. I have had yogurt mixed with muesli the other day. It did nothing to my skin but I'm not trying that again. It was so delicious!

Got to love a trier haha! Trying and experimenting is what keeps me feeling positive about living life with psoriasis. It makes me feel I regain a small sense of control somehow. That is very important for my outlook on it. Oo wine and sore throats, never tried that combo! My husband makes wine and beer and he has just put on 30 bottles of wine to brew. For the autumn! I tried yogurt yesterday for the first time in months. I bought the wrong kind and it was fat free ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Got to try soft cheese later this week, feeling a bit apprehensive about that.

Michelle
Michelle @michelle1021

oeh 30 bottles of wine to brew?!! for Autumn? now you are talking my language girl! lol. And not only that...It's Autumn here in SA! Let me say this Sarah, having you on Flaym and trying out all these different types of food etc really shows your determination and positiveness towards P and I do appreciate your input (I'm sure all of us). Thank you.
That is an awesome skill to have ;)

Cheese. I love cheese but when I buy it, I only buy Mozzarella cheese. I found that it does nothing to my skin but I have to add that I don't eat cheese a lot. Once a week only.

Hi Michelle ..the only wine I have is Old Brown hahahaa...getting ready for those winter nights..you think a glass of that might help my throat .. I know I will be very HOT after a glass or two ...Alcohol kills germs so whatever germ is in my throat will be gone ..I might even add a whiskey to assist in the throat treatment ....hahahaaaaaa

Michelle
Michelle @michelle1021

hahahaha Ellen. I can't drink OBS. Since school. LOL. I'm not sure if wine will help for you Elle but there is no harm in having a glass for the coming winter nights ;) I tell myself that red dry wine because its an antioxidant It is good for everything, so why not for a sore throat?? Whiskey on the side ๐Ÿ˜

Glad to hear your flare is calming down Sarah. Dairy does seem to be a massive problem all round. Humans are the only animals that carry on drinking milk after infancy. I don't believe we need it at all.

john, DARTS VADER @chewbacca

So true rachel, thing is we are raised with cows milk etc and feel the need that we got to have it ,i can remember a while ago when the snow was down and everyone is panicking for their milk and bread as it was selling out fast,i was getting asked is there was bread and milk in the shops?i said how would i know i drink or eat it and said, you dont need it anyway, i could see the look of evil in their faces at me like they were junkies waiting to get their fix :)
