Coping

The return of eyebrow flakes and guttate spots up my stomach and arms. I despair not. I rise up! Extra water. Extra anti-inflammatory foods. Extra moisturiser. Extra determination. This is my process. Today is another day to make a difference ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿ‘Š

Sarah, I don't know if you've ever tried it, but I have been on the keto diet for 1 month now and am really amazed and so very happy how my skin is clearing. I have tried so many things to no avail, but this actually seems to be helping. My scalp is better than it's been for several years and my eyebrow flaking has stopped. My legs and body areas are healing with only an occasional new spot....and they seem to begin healing soon after appearing. I've read so much on the keto diet about it helping the 'inflammation' in our bodies, and it seems to be working like a charm. I have hope for the 1st time in a long time. And for me....side benefit has been weight loss! It's not huge, but again, I have tried so many weight loss diets with no results, so this has been really exciting. Good luck with your current setback. I sure understand how frustrating it can be, but I applaud your resolve to stay strong. You 'go' girl!! :)

Please try lemon ๐Ÿ‹ on these spots it will help much more than a moisturizer lemon can change the ph of the irritant and allow your body to clear up.

Thank you everyone! It's amazing if you find anything I post remotely inspirational ๐Ÿ˜„ It's how I deal with it. Connie, that is ace about the results you are getting from your keto diet. I am already on a keto type diet! The only starch I eat is in small amounts of sweet potatoes, parsnips, plantains and very infrequently a bit of tapioca. No grains or pulses etc. I think in a way the psoriasis is shuddering out of my body and I get flares like this now and again but every time it subsides it vanishes a little more! That may change now with the adding back in of a little dairy but we'll see how it goes.

You are truly an inspiration to us all Sarah. Iโ€™m working towards trying a total elimination diet like you have done because of your example, but at the moment Iโ€™m sick and tired of being sick and tired and feel more like just hiding in a corner somewhere. I will rise again one day when this longwinded flare goes.

Sarah
Sarah @sarahuk

Let's do it Karin! But as you say, no point doing it until you are definitely ready to give it what it needs. It's no mean feat as you know. I had to wait until I was sure I had the fire in there to do it. I came across an AIP cookbook at my local library and borrowed it, swiftly took it back after one flick through as it seemed just completely impossible. Then, after doing Susan @godcares "cleanse" I knew I could do it. And needed to. I got the book out again and started! Here I am. Day 108. I'll see it through, I have to! I'm a stickler. ๐Ÿ˜„

Karin.....I have found that the keto diet has improved my energy levels and I don't feel 'sick and tired' so much any more. I wish you the best of luck....P is certainly a 'journey' and a constant learning process of 'do's and don'ts'. Good luck and God bless.

Sarah your positive vibes are infectious! Thank you! I am happy to hear today is a better day! You are so inspiring indeed!
Keto has been on my mind too Connie. It's Great to hear that your skin is clearing!
You will rise again Karin! Its easy to get *sucked in* with a flare up, but stay strong and know you can do it! :) Have you tried out the lemon on your skin?

Thank you all for your support, it is good to not feel alone.

I have an ongoing flare coming up every so often as inverse on my bottom, and it splits, so I'm too scared of the lemon after John's try! I'm putting on an over-the-counter tar and it helps to heal it until next time. Maybe I should start once it has healed this time as a preventative measure?

Michelle
Michelle @michelle1021

Hi Karin. I use the over the counter tar as well. Have been for many years. It made my inverse P under my breasts disappear but I still rub some on once a week for prevention. Haven't had inverse for a long time now. The tar has made most of my P disappear apart from the long term on my ankles. Try it as a prevention and see what happens. Good luck!

Clint
Clint @NJClint

Tar and lemon ๐Ÿ‹ are both natural. Try wetting lemon ๐Ÿ‹ with water then using until the inflammation is reduced

Karin
Karin @karinm

Great, I will try them both as prevention, never thought of it before! Homer Simpson has a word for that...

Wow--what awesome suggestions from so many friends!!!! This is why I LOVE this site!!!! I believe what we eat is a huge factor. The liver needs to be in good working order too--look into detox recipes online. Every organ has to be working efficiently in the body--water, exercise. I have been seriously looking into the Keto diet myself, Karin. I have been off of some foods for months, but some I still need to delete from my diet (i.e. dairy). I sometimes will lightly use a nail file to work away dry skin. I also use coconut oil on all effected areas, which helps penetrate through the skin layers better than just a cream. I also heard that "Valencia Orange Lotion" made by Made from Earth (Can order on Amazon, $19.99 plus shipping) was another good treatment, but haven't tried it yet. Also, cooking olive oil :)
