Has hair color and scalp psoriasis. I get my hair color while I have psoriasis in my scalp. It sure stings a lot! Has anyone experience getting their hair color while having psoriasis in the scalp?

🙋. I have a lot of white hair so I colored my hair many times and still not used to the sting.

Hi Melanie, I color my hair sometimes. I use a permanent color without ammonia and with oils. Its not giving any problems and doesnt sting.
But I do not use when I have scrached a lot or when it is very bad. Then I ll just wait till its calm.

I used to colour my hair up until 2 years ago and it was actually good for my scalp p. It disappeared for weeks. Maybe
I should do it again...

Google henna and psoriasis. According to one site, "You should combine the henna, water and coconut oil to create a hair and scalp mask that will sit on your scalp for 1-4 hours depending on how bad your flare is. Rinse it out and repeat it when necessary."

Thanks ladies! It stings a lot because I get it done. My hairdresser use sweetener, 4 of sweet n low. Now I think I’ll have her use 8 next time cuz it stung a lot last time. 😁

I get my hair done regularly Melanie, if my scalp is flaring, it can sting.. but it also clears it right up! One of those Hurts so Good Feelings! lol What does your hairdresser put sweetener in? Her hair dye? I hope not.. but if so the aspartame in sweet and low would scare me..

Very interesting response! I’m gonna try the mesh and without ammonia. Will have to ask my hairdresser. I think that’s what makes it sting and itch so bad. Michelle, I think she uses sweet n low to mix with the hair color. It helps it tone down the sting. A little she adds. Thank you very much!

I dye mine with henna at home when the flare up isn't too bad. Scalp loves it.

I stopped coloring mine because of the burning and pain it caused every time I dis it... no regrets, now my hair is short and salt and pepper...everyone loves it! Honestly, I had to put in perspective the “looking good” to the pain I was causing myself...one less thing I need to worry about.

I stopped coloring my hair (now gray) at the same time I decided to forego all chemicals (and chemical configurations) that were not put here by God, and I've seen my health improve ever since. Henna is a natural product, however, and as I have some sitting in a drawer, I may just try it again, because scalp psoriasis drives me crazy! Thanks for the encouragement in that direction, Madmum! I hope it doesn't turn my hair blue!!! 😁

Ha! It is trendy anyway. I use purple shampoo to keep my gray from turning any other color...still get the bumps, no itch, though but not as bad as before...

Is it possible to just have P on your scalp

Yes, i have a friend who just has this with an arthritic knee, only ever her scalp, i dont know how she would cope if she ever got it anywhere else?though she has only had it there for years, my work friends mum just has it there too only, i think they are lucky compared to me :)

I get red highlights it didn't sting but It was during a time where the flare ups weren't as bad. I'm in the middle of a flare and in desperate need of a touch up

Yes I get my hair colored usually does not sting you could try a semi permanent color that does not have peroxide

Lisa

Have your colorist add a small package of Sweet and Low into your color mix. Don't have any idea why it works, it just does. Almost no stinging with color now. Even with my roots!!
