I am not sure how they can make it worse? Petting and animal is said to bring your blood pressure down, to relax you. I find I get much joy from my animals, they don't stare, judge or care if I have P or not.

Hi Sanelle. With cat's shedding hair, and especially sleeping in your bed, I would say the hair might irritate your skin, which will cause you to itch. The itching will become irritable to your P and you will scratch some more?? I'm not sure as I don't have a cat but maybe some of our fellow Flaymers can shed light on this? :)

Shed some light on this LOL. Mine certainly shed, and I'm allergic to cats, but I'm not getting rid of them. I think it's possible they irritate the P though.

All I want to know if my dad's whole body is in flames with p in the winter it's definitely worse yes, with all meds and ointments nothing works for the skin that the doctors prescribes anyways, will a difference getting rid of the cats makes, what I know about p it's from the inside and yes so many things irritates from the outside but what big difference Wil taking away the cats make. We are at a stop with what to do our cats are like family that's why we have no idea what to do.

Sorry to hear your dad is having a hard time Sanelle. I have 3 cats as well & they make no difference whatsoever with my skin.
Its great you can be here for your dad! Welcome to Flaym!

Sanelle, I will never give my dogs away if it means it could help my P. Ever. I will change a few things around the house by vacuuming more often, clean bedding and not let my furry ones sleep with me, etc. I'm not even sure IF cat's hair can be harmful to our P. What I posted is my personal opinion only and I can't talk for anybody else. Sounds like your dad has bad inflammation. What diet is your dad on? and Meds? I drink turmeric for inflammation and eat it in most of my dishes. Sprinkle it on my salads as well. You can't give your cats away, they are part of the family. They love you. There are lots of other alternatives.

Because he's on high blood pressure meds he's not on any other meds he was on cortosonn if that's even spelled correctly but he's allergic to that aswell, we eat as diabetics basically, avoiding most dairy and red meats and citrus fruits.

Your diet sounds good Sanelle. Could it be the blood pressure meds perhaps? I have no experience in this field but I'm sure somebody will be able to advice you on the blood pressure meds.

I don't have cats and my p has still been pretty bad! I guess if there are allergies it would set off the immune system. But if your Dad has no allergies I'm not sure it could be an issue... your GP would be able to advise!

Hi Sanelle. I used to clean houses and one customer has 4 Pugs. The house is covered in their hair. I had to take anti histamines before I went there. I'm glad I gave it away!
