What do you think is a more effective blast for clearing up the scalp with a prescription treatment. Steroid spray or steroid shampoo?
Please don't include specific medical product brand names or external links.

I'm not sure Psomum. It depends on the ingredients and the directions of use. A shampoo has to be washed out. I'm assuming the spray can stay on for longer - like an ointment - until you wash it out? I've never used a spray.

i Know a lot of people use steroid based things for their P, just be careful with long time use

So true, though i got it coming up my neck at more, right on adams apple,winter is near here an getting cold,i had to put a bit on it,last night and this morning to fade it, i wont put any on there for a long while now,Its not good in the long term,I would be near a clear skin all year round in SA Peter,uk is harsh on me,though i dont get it bad so, its okay :)

I can't say psomom. I use my normal shampoo but once a week I wash my hair with a light tar shampoo

Hi Psomom... I have scalp P but have never used any STERIODS on my scalp.. my shampoo was a PURE shampoo with no additives.. & I also used a TAR shampoo... thereafter I would oil my scalp thoroughly with a mixture of oils I put together to help with the inflammation & dry scalp...my oil mix consisted of Coconut oil ,Olive, Jojoba , Tea Tree , Rosemary , Peppermint & Lavender oils... a few drops of each....

Hi Psomom I agree with Ellen, I never will put steroids on my scalp again, I did once but it came back soo much worse NEVER never again, I use black caster oil, &/ or olive oil, a natural shampoo tar cream when needed, but no essential oils, my scalp says no to them, I put them in an oil burner to aid relaxing instead :)

Madmum.. I agree sometimes the essential oils do tend to make my scalp burn ..especially after a good scratching session ... so I just use coconut & olive oil instead...

Ellen, I know what you mean about the scalp burn... I can't use the coconut oil anymore, it makes my scalp itch. elsewhere it's fine, but not on my scalp, well I like to be different !!!

My plan is to do a short blast and ween off slowly, meanwhile doing the coconut oil and hoping to get back to the ACV (he still refuses). I really thing the ACV is the key to never using the steroids again.

Well 2 application s of d cream cured my scalp,I swear,just use coal tar shampoo now,and scalp clear,rest of me isn't,so worked for me,and am a lifer,go figure

Good for you Rosey, That should give you more positivity to hopefully get the rest sorted ,I got a few places that have come up as winter approaches but,i am not going to let it bother me ,positive mind set does help :)
