...feeling insecure Sonia @summerdressenvy

Watching my kids at swim lessons & remembering when I was young & psoriasis free. I have not swam in a public pool in over 20 years. Though I did go to the water park this summer only to have people whisper and point at my legs. Sigh

I can relate completely. My kids don’t know how to swim though because I’m too embarrassed to go to the pool with them to teach them to swim.

Yes we do feel embarrass about our P but I know the chlorine is good for it. Had a pool for many years before I moved into a complex and I miss it. People will always gossip and point fingers. I sometimes walk with a short pants and people will look. Get the courage to face them as you need to enjoy your life with your kids too.

Sonia, I LOVE swimming, I'm a real water baby, and psoriasis is a real barrier to swimming in public. However, I refuse to let it deter me. I pick a beach that is more isolated and swim there. My sister has a pool, so I swim there (daily in the summer!). I heard a great line about how shame cannot survive in the face of empathy, so I try to make sure I have family and friends around. So just swim anyway!

Aimee, thank goodness for swimming lessons!

Michelle - I try to participate when I can with the kids around water activities - but man, it’s exhausting emotionally!

Genevieve - what an aspiring quote! I will have to remember that one.
