That would be wonderful are you taking any medication for your P? Or are you following diet and lifestyle changes only? My scalp P has really flared up and just seems to be getting worse since I went off my medication that you can only stay on for a short duration. Very frustrated.
03 Dec 20:48
I have always been on lifestyle changes Julia near 2 years now, when i started to make some changes, well just after new year i did,no real medications , i have alphosyl shampoo and childs farm moisturiser, now and again a bit of steroid but not often , it does help especially with joints Julia, thank you :)

Mine is dreadful at min it's driv8ng me mad aches and pains and ugly skin.
03 Dec 21:20
Hello Nicola, you can improve these things but it does take time with lifestyle changes ,i know when i gone off the rails with lifestyle, usually when i go on holidays, i felt it last week, crap foods and drinking, not good, on the mend now back to lifestyle changes , sorry hear this Nicola

Oh Julia, I'm sorry to read about your flare. Like John, the diet change has done it for me. We do not realize that the wrong food will trigger our P and make it worse. My daughter bought new shampoo and I thought let me try it. This was a month ago. Within that first week I got a spot. Next week I had about 3. I stopped using it immediately and only washed my hair with my coal tar shampoo. The spots are gone now but It will teach me not to experiment with stuff I know is bad for my P.
04 Dec 05:39
ooops! Sorry Julia, I hit send by accident. What I wanted to add was, ; I hope your flare get better soon. Have you changed your diet? and do you use scented products on your body? :)
04 Dec 08:48

04 Dec 18:46

05 Dec 04:52
Ellen you look beautiful! Wow! I love it! Yes stay positive, you're an amazing lady and like you said, its onwards &upwards from here. I'm so happy for you. It's a pleasure Ellen, we are all here to encourage each other and thank you to you too. 2019 is going to be awesome! ;) xx
Hi Julia, sometimes your P will get a bit worse when going off a certain med but don't give up okay? Stay with your diet. I know its December and holidays and all and one wants to cheat but keep it minimal. You have just come off your meds - try to stay with your diet. I think the wrong food will trigger your P more maybe? Try using a shampoo without Sodium Laureth Sulfate, maybe that will make a difference? I'm sorry your P got so bad but Julia, stay positive. Eliminate all the bad food and scented products, fizzy drinks etc. Try it for two weeks and see if it works. I'm sure the itching will go and once you stop itching, then you'll know your P its getting better. It's not easy but it can be done. I wish you all the best and please keep us updated okay? :) xx

Your welcome Ellen, just dont give up is my answer, I am going to try LIVEREL what Darren has said, worth a shot with a healthy diet all combined, Try extra vitamin D too,i think i had flake fade before i went on holiday and i was taking vit D for 2 weeks, its possible as we need this supplement in cold times, i know its warm where you are Ellen, May be for you Julia as you are in a cold climate at the moment, i know some are affected by cold or by heat, maybe when too hot its not good and being cold is the same, its like the bahamas in my house as the tennants i share with want it like their countries, rad heat is not good at all, i turn mine off, this drys the skin i think and is not good generally,i turn thermostat down they turn it up, hahaha its a battle lol :)

Julia I found oiling my scalp gave great relief especially from the itch ...I would wash / wet my hair then apply the oil mix .. ( olive, coconut , tea tree, lavender , grapeseed ) I bought small bottles of each & mixed them all together & apply to my scalp..U can also do it at night & sleep with a scarf then wash your hair in the morn . I know it sounds tedious but that's what I did for a year & still do once a week . Im glad to say my scalp is much better & my hair is thicker & healthier... it also helps with the itch & flaking....
05 Dec 20:20
Thank you Ellen yes I do put oil in at night usually coconut oil or Argan oil and had good results with hemp seed oil.
06 Dec 07:11
The only other problem is that our hair don't smell very nice...the oils & coal tar shampoo not a good combination....
06 Dec 08:54
You use a strong coal tar shampoo Ellen? The one I use smell like mint. One can smell the tar but the smell doesn't stay in your hair the whole day.
09 Dec 22:16
Okay, not much interest in getting some people conditions better ?,ah well i will save my data , I know it helps with diet/lifestyle changes ,maybe axel grease and drugs do better ? lol :) i wish all well :) :)
10 Dec 10:25
Hi Michelle... I buy my shampoo from Dischem ... cant think of the name now ...give me the name of your shampoo so I can try it .... thanx
10 Dec 11:23
Hi Ellen. It's called denorex. Light tar shampoo and not strong. I use it once a week as I don't have scalp P, but when I do get a spot, it goes quickly. Don't know why though. Good luck. Let me know if it works for you and send me the name of your's so I can try it too okay? :)
10 Dec 18:09
I will send you the name tomorrow.
12 Dec 09:22
Hi Michelle & Julia ... The shampoo I use is called Medi-Tar .. I get it from Dischem ...its kinda strong smelling ...
Will try the Denorex seeing as my scalp P is almost gone .....just the centre of my scalp I have an itchy patch ...
12 Dec 10:59
Thank you Ellen. I will keep the shampoo in mind. Denorex is not a strong shampoo but I do hope it will help. :)
12 Dec 18:48
The shampoo is called Selsum coat tar and salicitic acid.
13 Dec 05:03

Julia .. salicylic acid helps to correct the abnormal shedding of cells..That was one of the ingredients used in the ointment given to me by the Derm for my scalp . Will check if the Selsun sold here has that ingredient .....thanx again Michelle & Julia...time for some swimming so it will be great using these shampoos to keep P under control .....
