Hi Julie. I've never itched from coal tar shampoo before. I've been using it for 27 years and it works well on my scalp. I've also never been to a Dr with regards to my PsA. I never knew I had until I've joined Flaym a year ago. My PsA is much better now because I've changed my diet. No stiff or painful fingers. Haven't had any in months. Mine actually disappeared since I've started drinking my turmeric water and changed my table salt to Himalayan salt. Also, I've eliminated some food too.

turmeric water ?? Himalayan salt ?/ I have heard of an anti inflammatory diet but didn't know what it was

Hi Julie. I'm a huge fan of turmeric and so are many other Flaymers. Turmeric is a anti inflammatory spice and very good for us. I have been drinking turmeric water (as well as eating it in my food) for almost 9 months now and I only got positive results. My PsA is much better. I don't go to doctors nor derms. Himalayan salt is more healthy than normal white table salt. I mix himalayan and black hawaiian salt together and use it in my food. Not a lot though. I mainly focus on getting rid of inflammation. When I do get inflamed, my P gets worse and start spreading which is why the anti inflammatory diet is good for us.

Yes Julie. A quarter teaspoon in 750ml water. I know how you feel. We all want our P to get better and is willing to try anything. I wish you well and remember, there are other Flaymers who has wonderful advice for PsA as well. I benefit from turmeric but you are welcome to try it. Let us know in 4 weeks how it feels. You might see results sooner. Good luck :)

I forgot to say that you have to check what you eat as well okay? turmeric alone won't help you if you eat burgers and pizza or pasta every day. Eliminate the bad food and try keep it as healthy as you can. Rome wasn't built in one day and we all know that to change our diet is very difficult. Who wants to eat a carrot for supper? Hell. not me. lol. but, I do eat carrots a lot in my food and in my salad.

I got TMJ too which basically means damaged jaw joints to I will have to grate carrots n such but if I know what I cant /can eat I can work around it mebee

Julie, I'm on the caveman diet. I mostly eat veggies and salads only. Fruit doesn't work well for my P apart from Avo and bananas. I don't eat bananas a lot though but avo always. What works for me might not work for you. Red meat is out especially pork. Some Flaymers still eat red meat. I sometimes enjoy a steak but not much anymore. Mostly fish and chicken. When I do eat red meat, I don't itch nor do I get inflamed but I think it's because my body is so used to the food I take in that it's okay to cheat sometimes. I keep my diet balanced. It works for me. I eat pasta once a month. Rice, once a month and I don't really do sugar apart from 2 teaspoon in my cup of coffee with milk. I don't eat other dairy products. Potatoes (oh i love them), makes me itch and I don't eat tomatoes anymore as well. John Aqua man has put up posts about diet changes. Check out the theme section as it will give you all the updates on what kind of food to avoid :)

Julie because I have Diverticulitis attacks I can't eat raw veg and I have to peel fruit. Strawberries etc really affect my colon so I take chances and sometimes I'll have a bad attack and others I get away with it. I only have P in my ears though. Change of seasons are the worst time for me. My hubby has it on his body, legs and arms but seems to be doing well at the moment.

Rosey

Olive oil ,just a few drops inside ear, works wonders and Vaseline or oil coconut, hemp, olive around the drum helps, have right ear bad ,but pretty clear today, apply oil alot for itch,

True Bev, moisturising does help. If I don't, my skin becomes dry and cracks.
Rosey, I've heard that olive oil is good for the ears and many non P sufferers also swear by it. I'm 80% deaf in one ear but not because of P. Was born like this. Going more deaf by the day. One of these dayscid have to lip read lol. Just kidding
