Looks, treatment, healthcare system

I think I should rotate my treatment for my Psoriasis. I've been using my coal tar mix for many years and it is great for the short term P, but I can't get rid of the long term ones.

With psoriasis, we sometimes need to rotate treatments over time since they can become less effective as the body adapts to the treatment. I think this is what's happening to me. I have had the long term P for more than 10 years due to emotional stress. The short term P disappeared quickly. I don't want to use steroids nor biologics. 1% cortizone doesn't do anything for my P. Do any of you have any suggestions?

Hello Michelle, I have tried so many treatments in the past and none of them agreed with me just made it worse, Theres no miracle cream for me, nothing makes it better,1% cortisone is no miracle either but can make it fade a bit short term as its always done this for my face and private area,I have tried it on my toxin portal patch but do not make a difference really,When they stopped doing alphosyl cream i had try all sorts of stuff with trial and error, that was a coal tar cream i used for years and was okay ,Most of these things they gave me just burnt and made me very sore and my skin got worse,I feel safe with childs farm moisturizer as its natural and used for babies but is no miracle i think that can make it a bit sore too, Its difficult i know, its all trial and error Thanks :)

Yes true John. Thing is that in Europe there are more meds to try (otc products) than here in SA. a Miracle cream do not exist I know but something that will work for me like my tar mixture. I have tried tar only (not very strong - a bit I got from my pharmacy which I mix with my baby aqueous cream) but It gave a burning sensation so I just stopped it. I need to try something other than the coal tar. Might ask chemist what I can try. Trial and error indeed. :)

Good luck Michelle, I hope you find something that helps, Yes i got used to using the same products for years, I still use alphosyl shampoo, which i got yesterday as i near run out and the pharmacist always gives me discount which is nice :), its not cheap at £8,50 a bottle , i got it for £6,50 so i happy bunny :) Yes just be careful with some products, i see some are huge costs and i wouldnt pay that, a bottle of moisturizer is £4 a go and lasts for a few weeks a time, I worry about stuff with too many chemicals in it as some can be an irritant, I wish all goes well with that Michelle :)

Hi Michelle, I’ve been using a Persivate/E45 1:3 Cream mixture in a 400ml tub for my feet for several years. I do need to apply it two or three times a day and it gives me great relief. A tub lasts me about 9 months. It does have a cortisone component but that has not had any negative effect on me. You will need a prescription If you want to try it. I’m also in South Africa.

Hey Dave! It's good to see you back on Flaym. :)
Yes you're in Limpopo. I remember :) I've seen the plain E45 cream and I've used it before but no success. I guess after 20 odd years I will have to go to a doctor for a prescription. My P isn't bad. Still the same but I'd like to try something else. New Year, New Me I say ;)
Happy new year Dave!

I get that Michelle. Our bodies are interesting creatures that do adapt... Not sure what your emotional stress is but, without judgement, maybe it's time to deal with that stuff and toss it to the curb. Believe me when I tell you, it took me a very long time to toss that crap! Stress is horrible for us and might be why I don't have my skin issues anymore. For me I had to let go of an assault done when I was 15. Brother... I carried that my whole life. I journal alot to get things out. Therapy too. Meditation. Even went as far as to speak blessings and love over that man who assaulted me. It took time but now I just think he had a story. Not a great life, plus he was into drugs, which in itself is a story. Blessings to you always.

Thank you Susan. And to you too xx. I don't have any emotional stress now but I had more than 10 years ago which is why my P flared up again. Have it on my ankles for so long. The rest on my body faded but not on my ankles. Strange. :)
