Looks, coping, treatment

Genital Psoriasis: Had an interesting read yesterday that Genital psoriasis occurs in 29 to 40% of psoriasis patients, according to a literature review. That percentage increases in people with inverse psoriasis.

I would like to know, why does it increase with inverse psoriasis and how does genital psoriasis affect quality of life?

I have inverse psoriasis but just under my boobs & in the sides of my groin-- ( not in my Genitals )....it comes , I treat with creams then it disappears . I better keep a check on my Genitals ....:-)

Help I have developed genital P this last 1.5 yrs. Tried to speak to my doc when I had a colonoscopy (we have colon issues in our family) and he gave me a curt answer saying he knows nothing about P!!! I know we are allowed to say cream names but I am in dire need of a cream to use...suggestions without getting into trouble - fortunately my hubby has no issues with my P (I am very fortunate)

dovate - is a topical (skin-applied) corticosteroid medication used to treat skin conditions that have not responded well to other corticosteroids, including severe psoriasis and eczematous dermatitis. The scalp lotion and shampoo are used to treat psoriasis and seborrheic dermatitis occurring on the scalp.

Dermovate cream and ointment both contain the active ingredient which is a type of medicine called a topical corticosteroid is a very potent corticosteroid used to reduce inflammation in the skin.

I have never had genital P but Its good to know everything about it. We should not be ignorant to it as anyone can get it. I used to have inverse P under my breasts, but as you all know me and my tar mixture, I just applied some and it's gone. I do sometimes still apply under my breasts to try and prevent it and I make sure the bra's I wear is comfortable. Thank you for the advise on creams to use, I will definitely keep that in mind. I read that Jock Itch can get confused with Psoriasis as it looks the same but the Jock is a fungus and can be treated. Like inverse psoriasis it can also show up in the crease between your thigh and groin. Very interesting.
John, your friend should be glad he doesn't have it severe. So am I, but it's good to learn everything about P and have the knowledge to manage it.

That's great news John and I'm happy for you. Pity they don't sell the childs farm here. Maybe get some in May when I'm visiting England :) Speaking of right hand side John, My P gets worse on my right side as well. My legs I mean. Wonder why? Blood flow too strong that side? lol

Michelle
Michelle @michelle1021

haha Rosey. Party line. Funny. Expensive knickers is better to wear true AND expensive but worth it. I hope your P gets better there as I can imagine how difficult it must be in the summer. :)

Well i find its good in that area Michelle, has kept id down , some places it can make me itch a bit , some times some places are better left dry like my lower legs,I do get through a lot of this, around £2 or so a week, small bottle costs £4 so not bad ,It can get absorbed very easily so i do apply it quite a lot,Its safe as its natural for the skin as used for babies,Yes you can try some when you come to England :)

Michelle
Michelle @michelle1021

Sounds great. I'm so used to the coal tar mixture and wonder how my skin will react to childsfarm. Worth a try though. Thank you John :)

Thanks Michelle, at night i keep applying to my face and some areas as i watch the tv, you maybe okay with it, worth a shot and see?Creams generally dont like me unless its a steroid which i use now and again, my face is my main problem as it shows there, been hard shift it, I still have temple, right side, above my right eye brow, around my neck and left jaw side, My skin looked good on my face when i used steroids daily at 1% for years , since not hardly using it, my skin shows it more on my face but could be worse ay? Thank you :)

Michelle
Michelle @michelle1021

Yes it could be worse John. It sounds like the moisturiser is working for you and it's great. I was thinking in going to the doctor to get a light cortisone for my ankles but now its looking good again. I think all the fish is doing it for me. Hopefully it gives me more brain power too lol.

Yes good, you got good brains Michelle :),I only use 1%cortisone if i have to, Thats not too bad, I have to for my face but only fades it, dosnt clear it unless i used daily of which i dont as steroids are bad as we know,I f things get worse then i will say sod it, i will go all out just to get rid of it,hopefully not do that i hope , I been living the dream at the end of last year and that probably dosnt help with all my bad eating etc,The sun takes weeks and weeks to fade my skin, one week here and there dosnt cut it with me,usually progress over time,Usually the summer comes it fades before i know it, winter is here, never ending cycle, I am used to it and it could be worse thats right, I dont let it rule my life and never have though its annoying but then annoying for most of us ,I know no difference without it ,Yes i been eating a lot of fish and veggies now ,mainly my curries to get the turmeric in, tonight chicken and veggies,I am used to this everyday ,,Thank you :)
