Coping, relationships, friends & family
My girlfriend doesn't get it. She doesn't understand how I could go through life feeling like a monster, how I can't just say "Screw what others think". She doesn't get that P isn't "Just a skin condition"

It's society that just does not get it, they think we're contagious or unclean. Your girlfriend will get where your coming from eventually. I have being very down lots of times, try to not let it ruin your relationship, look at it this way, At lease she isn't put off by your skin and at least you have a girlfriend 😍

Hi Benedetto. I used to think I'm a reptile because I was covered in P. I felt like a monster too. It took me years to say "screw what others think" and today...I do it in style :)
Benedetto, your gf loves you and she accepts you for who you are. Love means seeing beauty in the ugly, the light in the dark, and accepting that even if the lights are off, and I can't see what's in front of me, there will be something there to guide my way. Love means turning yourself inside out, handing yourself over to somebody else, and trusting them to touch you, to handle you, to bend you, but never, ever break what you give them, and your gf seems like that kind of girl?
I have learned that by accepting my condition, my view will change and I will focus on something else than my skin. It worked for me. Today I can stand tall (although short and a bit shy) and shout out "I have Psoriasis" while wearing a short skirt.
P isn't just a skin condition. It affects your mental health, your personality, your goals, your attitude towards life and people, but it is up to you to change it.
I was overweight but I've decided how I want to look. Do I want to be overweight and have Psoriasis, be skinny while having Psoriasis or not having Psoriasis but still be overweight? I chose to lose weight. I couldn't bear being overweight and looking like a reptile. Once I started losing weight and changed my lifestyle, my Psoriasis disappeared. Went into remission for more than 10 years.
Youré not a monster Benedetto, once you start accepting your condition, then you'll see how easy it will become to manage your condition. You are lucky to have a gf who loves you for you. :)
It's not just a skin condition.
