Coping, treatment, healthcare system

Hi my lovely Flaymers. Hope you are all doing well during this COVID-19 experience? My question to you : Do you think our immune system can withstand this virus?

As you all know, a normal immune system protects the body against "invaders" by destroying bacteria, viruses and other foreign proteins. In the person who has psoriasis, the immune system "misfires" and inappropriately causes inflammation and an accelerated growth of skin cells. What can we do to protect ourselves from this virus? What would you do differently to stay healthy?

Other than making sure you take vitamins to boost your immune system, I don't think you really can do anything else to withstand the virus other than stay indoors. There are many 'healthy' people who have succumbed to this and, conversely, many 'high risk' people who have survived.
It might be different as I'm on biologics which suppresses the immune system but I'm already on the NHS 'High Risk' list so I'm not meant to be going out for 12 weeks - I've already done a month 'inside' so another 2 months to go. At the rate things are going, I don't think the lockdown will be released within the next 6 weeks! I still go out for walks though as I don't believe in hogging home delivery slots when I'm perfectly capable of shopping for myself and can take the appropriate precautions unlike the older high risk people who really need it!
Take vitamins to make sure your body's immune system is still strong and accept any malfunctions the skin will produce as it may cause flare ups. I'd rather accept a bit of a flare up to contracting the virus as a flare up should be temporary as contracting COVID-19 might be permanent...
Make sure you're covered up accordingly as the virus will survive on the skin and clothes for a few hours and wash your hands and any exposed skin as necessary - and wear a mask and sunglasses if and when you go outside. That's all I'd recommend...Sorry, a bit of a ramble...!

I think we have to be careful with any medical treatments or drugs that reduce or limit your immune system in order to treat p. While lowering your immune system might help with p you make yourself vulnerable to viruses, etc.

I am about to be tested this afternoon for Covid-19. I have my fingers and toes crossed for a negative result. I had bronchitis about a month ago so I think it may be a flare up of that. I am very over being unwell though. I seem to catch everything going around probably because of the immune suppressant medication I am on.
