Biologics for Psoriasis
Support and advice about biologics for psoriasis.
I was on Biologics for 2 years then stopped for 8 months, it was terrible for me as my psoriasis was full blown. I started again and the results was amazing. But deep insidebim really worried about the side effects and what it will do to my body in the future. I tried everything, eating gluten free, photo therapy but it does not work for me.
Hi Kim, biologics are like all medications they come with risks, but they are not as scary as people think, they are for people who have tried everything else and failed, I tryed the diet and got quite ill....as i am a small person and lost a lot of weight, my p got worse as well...I will probably be still looking for answers in my 80s lol...I am very glad diet is controlling your p :)
In Australia the government will subsidise your biological treatment providing you have gone through a number of other treatments first and they have not worked. It's a very frustrating process, after the first one or two fail the specialists know biological treatment is your best option - and it usually takes 6 weeks each treatment before it can be declared a fail.
Hi flaym, I have tryed 4 different types of biologic injections, and to all of them had severe allergic reactions facial and lip swelling, so I am having a break for now and am taking immune suppressants orally...in saying that the biologics were so easy and much better then other treatments, I just gave myself an injection in the tummy it was pain free and easy, the clinnic I go to there is so many p patients who have amazing results with biologics and are p free some for the first time in their lives, biologics are for people who have tryed all other treatments and have failed, but are the future p controllers,in Australia we are lucky as it is free to go to the clinnic and see professor as we bulk bill and we only pay for 5% of the biologics and the government pays for the other 95%...my professor who I have been seeing since I was 16 years old continuely supports me and assures me there are plenty more biologics for to trial and never give up hope!!
Hi harsh, don't be afraid of the biologics be afraid of this disease as it affects not only our quality of life but our health and other organs, I have tryed just about everything going alternate and medical and I will not stop until I find an answer not so much for me now but for my son who I passed it on to...I have tryed 4different biologic injections over the past year, unfortunately none of them worked fo me.. they didn't hurt there was no pain involved and I gave myself the injections in my tummy..so much better and easier then creams...at the clinnic I have been going to for the past 32years I saw some amazing results on others who suffer with this disease...I have also tryed oral immune suppressants and am just about to trial a new one....fingers crossed...good luck with the biologics...if you want any info on which ones I've used message me...I say go for it and good luck :)

If you aren't getting relief from other psoriasis treatments, your doctor may suggest you try a biologic treatment These medications target a specific part of your immune system and usually used to treat moderate to severe plaque psoriasis.
